Export
What can you export?
An Eraser file has two parts — the canvas (diagrams) and the document (notes) — and you can export either or both. Diagrams export to PNG, SVG, PDF, and diagram formats (BPMN, Visio, draw.io); documents export to Markdown or PDF.
How to export
- Open the … menu in the top-right and choose Export, or press ⌘/Ctrl + E.
- Pick an Export area, a File type, and any options.
- Click Export.
To export part of a diagram, select elements first, then use Export selection from the diagram toolbar's … menu — this is also how you reach the BPMN, Visio, and draw.io formats.
Export area
| Area | Includes |
|---|---|
| All | Canvas and document |
| Canvas | The entire canvas |
| Selection | Selected elements only |
| Document | Notes only |
Diagram (canvas) formats
| Format | Available for |
|---|---|
| PNG / SVG / PDF | All diagram types / any canvas content |
BPMN (.bpmn) | BPMN diagrams only |
Visio (.vsdx) | Cloud Architecture, Flowchart, and Freeform diagrams only |
draw.io (.drawio) | Any single selected diagram |
Image options (PNG/SVG)
- Quality: 1x/2x/3x
- Background: solid/transparent
- Color mode: light/dark.
Copy & embed
Instead of downloading, select a diagram and use the toolbar … menu:
- Copy as PNG (Shift + Alt + C) or Copy as SVG — paste into another app.
- Copy Markdown embed / Copy HTML embed — snippets for external docs.
- Copy link to elements — a deep link back into Eraser.
- Copy as XML / JSON — freeform diagrams only.
Document formats
- Markdown — a
.mdfile. - PDF — a formatted PDF. Exporting All delivers document and canvas as two PDFs in a ZIP.
Plans
PDF export, 2x/3x image quality, and removing the Eraser watermark require a paid plan.
