# Mentions

If you want to call your collaborator's attention to something, you can **mention** them. Creating a mention will send them an **email notification**. You can mention collaborators on the Document, Canvas (coming soon).

1. Press `@` and type the name of your collaborator.
2. Select the person you'd like to mention.

Mentioning is possible for the following types of users:

* A team member
* A guest to a team file
