# Import

## What can you import?

Drop or paste images, Markdown, or existing Eraser content directly into a file – embedded as-is, no AI. What's supported depends on where you drop or paste.

_Note: To turn a file into an editable diagram instead of embedding it, use _[_File-to-diagram._](/file-to-diagram)

## On the canvas

- **Images** – PNG, JPEG, GIF, SVG, embedded as an image. (For WebP, use File-to-diagram.)
- **draw\.io** (`.drawio`) – converted to an editable diagram.
- **Eraser content** – diagrams or elements copied from another Eraser file, inserted directly.

## In a document

- **Images** – a broad range of types (PNG, JPEG, GIF, SVG, WebP, and more).
- **Markdown** – converted to formatted content (headings, lists, bold, links).
- **Rich text / HTML** – pasted with formatting preserved.
